wow i really admire your will to study japanese by yourself, because i would've never be able to do that.

i found this website the other yesterday when i browse the web for beginner japanese study. It is easy to learn since it designed for kids.

Tae Kim's Japanese Guide is great! All your other recommendations helped out too, but Tae Kim's guide was just what I needed. I'm thinking about getting My Japanese Coach tooooo.

To keep this thread going, how about some book, CD and other non-online resource recommendations. I'd like to buy some useful books and such. I just got Japanese the Manga Way today. Hopefully, it's worth it. I'm always looking for fun ways to supplement my Japanese learning and this book seemed like it wou;ld do that.

When I began studying by myself about three years ago, I used they "Human Japanese" free software to study Hiragan and Katakana for the first time. As I continued to learn common words, phrases and sentence structures, I stuck with the ganas only in order to get a comfortable, solid foundation of them before delving into kanji (which I use the "iKnow!" website for studying).
