Can anyone tell me what this means 努力
 
Hi there

I'm new here and I was wondering if someone could help me out. A friend of my sister's who spent a year in Japan attending school there gave me these signs.

努力

Just wanted to know if it's true what he said.

Hope you can help me out and tell me what it means.

..but originally i wanted the words "purposefulness" and "ambition" in kanji

purposefulness? I don't even know what that means.

Ambition is 野心 or 野望

Maybe I am completely wrong... but after months of serious studies of Japanese, but having it written it for years (in the past without serious grammar studies) I still make kanji that look like crap. We all know how easy is to get a kanji wrong and make it look like something else...

Do tattoo makers know this? Or they think they can redo any kind of picture perfectly? Above all if they take a hand written kanji as source of their tattoo...OUCH!
