how to write konnichi wa?
Is it written in Kanji or hiragana?
|
It's written in hiragana
こんにちは |
thank you.
|
ko-n-ni-chi-ha
In Hiragana. |
thank you, also. :)
|
Honestly it can be written either way. It will just depend on who you are speaking to. There is nothing wrong with it in hirgana though.

Nearly all Japanese would read 「今日は」 as 「きょうは= Today is ~~」 and not 「こんにちは」. That's how it's taught in Japanese schools. |

Every once in a while, you will hit upon it in a book... And end up doing a double take if it doesn`t have ふりがな at the side.
It can be written as 今日は, but that doesn`t mean that anyone ever does. |
The first email I sent out to Japan came back with that correction. I was suggested to avoid writing こんにちは as 今日は since it can be read as きょうは. It seems on this one every native speaker is on the same side :)

Hiragana is the appropriate way to write it. Sorry if my message was confusing, I was just mentioning that using kanji isn't technically wrong (though easily misread as mentioned).
