Chelsea in Japanese

Hello :) im new to this forum and new to japanese(just learning hiragana and some basic kanji). My girlfriend is wondering how she'd spell her name in Japanese. It's chelsea. I was trying to figure it out alittle(i know im mostlikely wrong). but is this close??? チェセ

I think it would be something like this:
チェルシー

Next time please title your thread with more detail than "just wondering"...

Nagoyankee 05-05-2009 05:50 AM

kcyk8703 is correct. It isn't written any other way. チェルシー is a household name here as it's the name of a popular candy.

thank you

Sorry about the mislabeling title that was my 1st post. Thank you very much helping me. Ill be sure to be more specific next time

LoL! That Chelsea bento thing made me laugh. XD

Yes, it is indeed written as チェルシー (cherushii).
However, do you know how to say this?

I suggest reading here, but remember that when a native talks quickly it may sound like 'Che-shii' or 'Chel-shii'. Also, you should do a little research on how shii is pronounced, too.

On the topic of that, actually, check out fu, fe, fi and fo as well, because it's not that similar.

PM me and I can explain.

Best of luck,
Megan ^^

I wouldn't say that a native speaking fast would sound like he's saying "cheshii" because the "ru" would not be thrown away that significantly.

Absolutely correct. チェルシー is a 3-syllable word no matter how fast you say it.

No, thanks. Do it right here in the thread if you really know so much.
