Study advice.

Anyone got some? I'll share my techniques.

I write a daily journal in Japanese. I also review the grammar I've learnt in class that I have difficulty with and try and read childrens books.

For listening/speaking I have a few language buddies with whom I practice Japanese every week and whom I help with their English.

In your day to day routine, what ever you do or say in English, try to do it in Japanese. If you find that you are unsure of the grammar or a particular word, add this to you to do list.

If you are learning to write, it can be overwhelming with so many different characters. Pick a couple(whether 5 or 10) and write them out each day. It will really compound after you have done this for a month or so.

Pick a conversational Japanese language guide to practise real Japanese. Textbook Japanese is just that. You really want to be able to use your new found vocabulary in real situations to compound your learning.

A little bit each day as opposed to a whole day then nothing for the rest of the week is much better.

Hope this helps

If you really knew so much Japanese, you would not call yourself a sensei, period!

I agree, that's like calling yourself -sama. The Japanese are really picky about respect to others and being prideful. Even if you don't intend it, it kind of gives off the underlying tone and makes them very uncomfortable (like constantly calling them あăȘた, it sounds like you're accusing them).

Khengi, I've been meaning to say (but didn't know where) that your sig doesn't make sense. You claim to be "fluent" in Japanese, yet your sig is full of grammar errors.

It's a running gag between some friends and mine, and it would take forever to explain. I'm only partially fluent (fluent enough to teach), but I still have a ways to go.

In no way do I claim full fluency (in fact, to stop this from happening, I took it out).
