Having trouble with this sentence

来年はイリノイに行くから待っててね

Im having trouble understanding this sentence. I can figure out most individual parts but when its all together I get confused. It is the only sentence I couldnt figure out from my friends email he sent me.

I think it says: Can you wait to go to Illinois (college). I think he might mean the school I go to but Im not sure.

He says "I am going to Illinois next year, so wait for me [then]."
