Miyavi, what MMM means is that it's just as ok to write Japanese vertically as it is to write horizontally in a western style. Either is correct. A lot of people opt for vertical text when they have a tattoo in Chinese or Japanese as firstly, it fits onto limbs better, and secondly as it looks 'more authentic', but it's not more 'correct' than writing it any other way.

Miyavifan, please. I am not sure how to be any more clear. I am saying it doesn't matter which direction the tattoo goes.

You asked "does it not matter?"

I answered "it does not matter."

that wasn't clear at all. You should have phrased it different, such as, either direction is fine.

I take "it doesn't matter" to mean something else entirely.

It was clear to me. I think the only one reading such a 'tone' into his words was you.

I'm of the opinion that an argument from a similiar thread was dropped into this one which resulted in the confusion.

maybe so, but that doesn't change that it could mean two things.

I don't see how this wasn't clear.
