I just need your help....which is more appropriate to use as the japanese word for cellphone?

keitai or ketai?

and is this the right kanji? 携帯

It is KEITAI.

携帯 is the correct kanji.

thanks also sashimister-san for ur response on my double-post that just got deleted...

based on your answer though, it looks like it should be written as keitai but when spoken or pronounced, it should sound like keetai or ketai as with a long vowel e sound...let me know if i understood u correctly...thanks again!:)

Have you taken any Japanese classes? Because you're asking a question that is answered on Day 1 of Japanese 101. That is what えい sounds like: ええ.
