Some small kana help

Does anyone know what the first kana in the picture means? I know both the hiragana and katakana, but I cant recognize that kana....

I know the second, which by my understanding is "Gi". But I don't get the first one...

Can anyone help me out?

1. the first one is not a kanji; it is a kanji: 大
2. there are three characters, not two, in total: 大きい. This word means big, and it is read おおきい.
