Bonsai words (Japanese characters)
Hi there!
I just got back from the best holiday ever, one month Japan :)! As I like Bonsai very much, I visited a lot of gardens, but I only know the japanese names. Can someone help me with the english texts? I mean the literal translations: Thanks for any help! Oscar |

I'm just going to do a few to show you what I mean: 中西珍松園—Nakanishi-chinshouen (middle+west+rare+pine+park) 北谷植古園—Kitadani-shokkoen (north+valley+grow+old+park) 小西松楽園—Konishi-shourakuen (small+west+pine+pleasure+park) |
What I think you are asking for is transliterations of the Japanese into alphabet, rather than "literal translations"- different things.
|
Ah Im sorry! I meant those translations in stead of the literal meanings. Hope you can help me with the others :) Thanks a lot!

Again, are you asking for translation or transliteration? |
I meant these;
|
That's "transliteration": Writing something with one writing system in another. For example, if you ask for the "translation" of 東京 you'd get "east capital," but the transliteration is "Toukyou" or "Tōkyō."
Of the remaining ones, 養盛園—no idea 本津翠星園—no idea 出上吉洸園—Ideuekikkouen 神高松寿園—Kandakashoujuen 神高福松園—Kandakafujushouen ㈱山白八松園—Yamashirohasshouen 松田清松園—Matsudaseishouen 山下昭和園—Yamashitashouwaen 尾路旭松園—not sure, but I think Orokyokushouen Most of these you can google and get the pronunciation in about five seconds. |
養盛園—no idea Youseien
本津翠星園—no idea Honzu-Suiseien 出上吉洸園—Ideuekikkouen 神高松寿園—Kandakashoujuen 神高福松園—Kandakafujushouen ㈱山白八松園—Yamashirohasshouen 松田清松園—Matsudaseishouen 山下昭和園—Yamashitashouwaen 尾路旭松園—not sure, but I think Orokyokushouen <-- correct |
So all together that makes:
Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate that! |
