That would be quite a step backwards

Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

From the Japanese language bar you should be able to switch to Hiragana mode.

For example:

To switch to Hiragana mode, click on the Input Style button on the Japanese language bar.
This brings up a drop-down list of input modes. Move the mouse to highlight Hiragana and click to select.
The input mode is now in Hiragana mode.

If, on the other hand, the displayed option is not the desired one, hitting the space bar produces a drop-down list of choices in kanji, katakana, and/or hiragana.
If you are unable to get this functionality in Windows 7, I believe something’s gone wrong with the installation.

To ensure that you get the installation correct, please follow the tutorial for Windows 7 from the article below:

Add or change an input language

If the instructions above doesn’t help, then as a workaround you can try installing IME in XP SP2 or Vista compatibility mode.

Refer the article below for more information on program compatibility mode:

wonder what the difference is between the language pack and the language bar options

when I had XP it had no problem what so ever running any of the japanese learning software I had...windows 7 seems to have more difficulty with it but I think it might be the whole 64bit system thing

Oh yeah, if you don't want to enable IME just yet here's an online version that'll let you type in Japanese. Play around with it (though the one available on your system is better than this one)
InputKing online IME - type your language on any computer

Ok I come back from couple days and I just see from few pages to like 9 pages and I'm telling myself what is going on?

But, I thought this thread was made to help me get an advice on studying Japanese ^_^

And according to the Japanese typing, I use the Input mode and use the mode that is given and I still do not get anything bad. It seems fine to me

"Learn first Hiragana, then Katakana and then Kanji. "

-My friend also told me that I should practice this first. And, also on how to construct sentences with right grammar and vocab.
This might be quite hard at first, but need to practice more and more. =D
I'll just strive hard and I'll gain from it. =D
