落ちる

Hi masaegu san,

I was wondering if 落ちる apply to human beings too, when referring to falling down?

For example: 公園で子どもが落ちた。(A child fell down in the park.)

I remember once in a book I had found a distinction amongst the various way of saying "to fall". The description it was not much due to the thing/person falling, but more like the way they fall. If I well remember 降る describes more a vertical fall. 落ちる is more the generic word and includes figurative speech (恋に落ちる). I think there were another couple of ways, but I don't recall.

However to answer your question, yes it does.

No, it doesn't. The verb is 転ぶ(ころぶ).

Then I guess 落ちる requires something to fall from? Because I have read before about people 自転車から落ちる :)

I don't think many people 自転車から落ちる, seriously.

If you trip over a stone and fall down, that is not 落ちる.

This is the definition of 落ちる.

ぬれます - Get wet

別れます - Part, Separate
