飾ります, 陳列します, 見せます, 展示します
Hi masaegu san, could you kindly explain to me the differences of these verbs: 飾ります (Decorate, Display), 陳列します (Display), 見せます (Show, Display), 展示します (Display)? :)

飾る is to decorate or adorn, like you would decorate a tree by putting lights on it (cf 着飾る, which is when you get dressed up fancy, as you can see by the kanji DRESS+DECORATE) 陳列する is to display/exhibit, like at a museum 展示する is the same (I don't know of a difference between this and 陳列する) 見せる is to show something to someone, like what you do after saying "hey, look at this book" or "hey, look at this cut on my hand; is it infected?" |
It may be inappropriate... yet I did a quick search with 陳列 and 展示 on Google images, and got a faint idea about 陳列 and 展示.
陳列 is to display goods for sales (for example, the items in a shop, a supermarket or a showroom). 展示 is to gather and display all the goods (in a trade fair) or art works (in a museum); and sale is not the main purpose, yet the goods/works can be bought (it depends). I just have interested in your question, state my idea about it and this is not an assure answer, anyway. I am waiting to be corrected by masaegu, too :) |

But I just said it passes my smell test, not a native's. So we shall see :) |
Thanks for the help, KyleGoetz san and blumoonid san. :)

masaegu san, it would be nice if you can include your input as well.
