my really bad grammar - help? -

Hi! I just want to thank you for clicking this thread and if you can help me fix my grammar then you are just too kind!
 誕生日に 私は いろいろな ものを もらいました。 たとえば 時計とか ぼうしとか。 その中で いちばん好きなのは やぱり、 ははにもらった大きい うし のぬいぐるみです。 その ぬいぐるみ は ス―パー に はっけんされた 。 (I found the ぬいぐるみ in the supermarket) でも はは は “それは たかすぎだ。 使いないん (useless?) ものだ。 だめ！” といった さいしょの その ぬいぐるみは まだはんばいでわあ りません。(wasn't on sale) でも その三日目 その ぬいぐるみは はんばいです ！(the third day it was on sale) すぐに ははに 伝えた (I quickly told my mom) そして やっと ぬいぐるみが。。。。 同意しました (my mom finally agreed to buy me the ぬいぐるみ) まいにち その ぬいぐるみを いだきなければなりま せん (I must hug my ぬいぐるみ everyday) そして ねるのとき もし わたしのぬいぐるみ が そばに いないん、わたしは 眠ることができない (when I sleep, if my stuffed animal is not beside me I cannot sleep) かわいいですから それが 一番好きな 誕生日プレゼ ントです。 Thank you so much!!

My choice (and I'm a Japanese-speaker) would be: 「ぬいぐるみをかってくれました。」 まいにち その ぬいぐるみを いだきなければなりま せん (I must hug my ぬいぐるみ everyday) いだく is the wrong verb. Things you can いだく are always intangible such as a dream, hope, desire, etc. The correct verb is だく but since that has a sexual connotation, one would use だっこする or ハグする. そして ねるのとき もし わたしのぬいぐるみ が そばに いないん、わたしは 眠ることができない (when I sleep, if my stuffed animal is not beside me I cannot sleep) ねるのとき Drop the particle いないん ＞ いないと 眠ることができない > Not incorrect but the dictionary form makes it sound cold. かわいいですから それが 一番好きな 誕生日プレゼ ントです。 ですから ＞ ので Better yet, say とてもかわいいので. Delete all the spacings!

I bolded some parts that I changed 誕生日に私はいろいろなものをもらいました,たとえば時計とかぼうしとか。 (I don't know if that's putting the two sentences together..) その中でいちばん好きなのはやっぱり（？）、 ははにもらった大きい うし のぬいぐるみです。 そのぬいぐるみはス―パーで（？）みつけた（？）。 でもははは “それはたかすぎだ。使えないものだ。だめ！”といっ た さいしょの日そのぬいぐるみはまだはんばいされて いませんでした。 でもその三日後そのぬいぐるみははんばいされていまし た ！ すぐにははに伝えました そしてやっとぬいぐるみをかってくれました。 まいにちそのぬいぐるみをハグしなければなりません そしてねるときもしわたしのぬいぐるみがそばにいないと 、わたしは 眠ることができません とてもかわいいので、それが一番好きな誕生日プレゼ ントです。 also I was wondering I repeated ぬいぐる so many times is it kind of weird? is there a way to avoid saying it repeatedly?

Use やはり without the dots or the little circle on the は. そのぬいぐるみはス―パーで（？）みつけた（？）。 Precisely the verb and the particle I was looking for! You use はっけんする if you discover a new continent or something. でもははは “それはたかすぎだ。使えないものだ。だめ！”といっ た Great. I may have sounded strict but if I did, that's because it didn't take me a second to tell that you loved studying Japanese! You study because you really want to, not because you just happened to register for a course or you had to do a foreign language. It shows in your writing.

Yes I love Japanese too much. I visited Japan so many times but it's sad that I'm just not fluent enough in speaking Japanese. But I'm surprised that you could tell it through my writing. I listen to Japanese music and watch alot of dramas and anim, (it started with music and anime and finally made its way to drama and movies.) but I still can't get the speech pattern and particles right. My Vocabulary is probably the thing I am most confident of.

Since they're written by native Japanese people....it's nearly always 100% correct. Just copy and mimic. That's what language learning. It's just copying what they do. In my opinion, it's not very good to write and create your own sentences when one is not yet fluent. It can become a very bad habit when no one is correcting you. For example...try searching スーパーに見つけた....the results will only show up as スーパーで見つけた...because the former doesn't exist in the language.
