[Help] Japanese slang
I study japan in formal education for some times now, but still when I read manga and watch anime those knowledges is useless.
the thing is, Japanese slang is far different from formal Japan you get from the book. so can anyone here sharing their experiences in speaking with daily japanese, probable with "slang" words. ^^ |
Are you sure it is slang? I would divide the language outside of textbooks in 3 classes (doesn't apply only to Japanese, but to all languages):
1_ Everyday language: it comes down to getting rid of extra fancy phrases and structures. 2_ Colloquial language: Here the language becomes more "personalized". Sounds become more simplified for a more practical use of the language, some shortened and some words linked (for example "wanna", "gonna", " 'sup" and so on). 3_ Slang: Slang is a real sub-language where words assume a completely different meaning from their original one or again new words are created. The use is usually restricted to a certain group of people (gang, young, some ethnics and so on). When the new words become popular they start being used also from people outside of the group. (I left out the dialects, which are a big important class as well). So are you sure you have problems with slang? I ask you that because I know that colloquialism is probably as hard as slang (at least for me). |

I have all the reasons to be intolerant with people who show no respect for my culture and language as you would with your counterparts. |

マジ眠い! マジ is "really", "seriously", or/and "to be frank with you". ブチ殺す! ブチ is emphasizing 殺す. ・・・・・ナウ! I'm not for sure, but it means "now" ?? And only written words, in the forum or email. Am I correct? |

They don't use much slang in anime. They're just using vocabulary you've never learned in class before. I mean, can you imagine an anime (or movie, book..etc..) that is full of slang all over the place? It would never get published. And how is マジ slang? People use that word all the time. Slang would be more like オナニ、おまんこ, チャッカ。。。。キラーパ |
