Now I remember, like through a fog though, something i learned in japanese lang. school about homophones and diff. pitch, but man, that was 9y ago...I forgot. Well, I look forward to your answer, this is an interesting quiz!

No, I absolutely am aware of the fact that the pitch on different mora in declarative sentences changes meaning from 今 to 居間, but I'm not sure which is which. I'm lucky that context has made it pretty clear my entire life which is which. :)

Haha, well that makes things more clear. I believe 新大阪 is another 新-containing word.

I read しんおおかさ and figured it was a special cultural word for a special kind of umbrella.

D'oh. One of those words that makes sense in context but isn't really part of my active vocabulary that I can call on at will. I tend to just say 新しい車. Let's chalk it up to my pride in 大和言葉 over 漢語.

「あめ」とか「はし」も、関西弁は東京とはそっくりさ かさまだったりします。

確かに。でも不思議と「天然な関西アクセント」で単語 の発音を覚えてしまっている日本語学習者が多いんです よ。今回のを含め、ここで２―３回アクセントに関する クイズをやって、そういう結果が出ています。今私が夢 中になっている韓国のアイドル達も例外ではありません 。過半数が関西アクセントです。「関西」と言うよりは 、単に「逆」と言った方が正確なのでしょうが。

ただ、多くの日本語学習者がアクセントを習っていない と証言していることには驚きました。私からすると、ア クセントの位置を知らなければ単語の発音を習いようが ないのでは、と思ってしまうからです。日本語が海外で どう教えられているのかを疑問視せざるを得ません。
