for me, its other... japanese is different from other languages i've learnt. so the thing thats hard for me is the motivation tbh. I try to learn something from a text book, when i say it to a friend (japanese), i always learnt that thing wrong

I think so far, grammar and verbs have been the biggest hurdles for me. Its just so different from english. However in saying that, it does get easier the more you learn. I self studied for a couple of years in my spare time but now going to classes and having jp friends it really does boost your learning. I regret not studying this in High School.

At first I had the most trouble with the particles. Everyone says that the written is the most difficult... only Kanji can be a frustrating, Hiragana/Katakana was quite easy for me.
