Memoirs of a Geisha

The last Samurai
Tokyo Pop

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

So you're looking for films that had some sort of filming done in Japan or majority or only? Because Memoirs of a Geisha was mostly filmed in California with some scenes filmed in Kyoto.

he's right, a few of the garden scenes of it were filmed at a local japanese garden here in California. The same place also was filmed for a few scenes of The Last Samurai.

kenmei 08-18-2008 07:56 PM

The Grudge and Black Rain are two of my favorites that I remember being filmed in Tokyo.

There was another which featured a dark Samurai clan hunting down an American fighter across hospitals & stations... Had a famous scene within a bullet train / 80's movie (can't remember the name).

It minght be this one 「新幹線大爆破」.

YouTube - 【高倉健アワー】新幹線大爆破【予告】

This movie is inspired by a scenario by Akira-Kurosawa and the movie "SPEED" also inspired by the same scenario.

Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift? Godzilla? Uhm, I don't really know any.

Mr. Baseball with Tom Selleck and The Hunted with Christopher Lambert. Also, You only Live Twice (James Bond, but produced by a American company).

Actually Black Rain was mostly filmed in Osaka. The final scene was filmed in LA.

It.......wasnt......filmed.........in.....Japan?

It is extremely difficult for foreign countries to film movies in Japan, there are endless amount of red tape to get through. In the end, it takes less time and costs less money to build an imitation "Japan" in California or some other place.

More than 90% of Tokyo Drift was not filmed in Tokyo (or Japan, for that matter). The famous scene where the cars "drift" through Shibuya crossing was computer generated.

Mhmm, Japan would never close off the crossing for filming anyways.

Hey I was thinking about a movie that I saw, I don't remember what it was called but I believe it was filmed n Japan.

The scene that I remember was when the main character had to plant these plants on a crop with his hands and was getting very impatient. When there was a slight wind, all the others would stop for a moment and feel the cool air but he would carry on planting with a quicker pace just to finish faster. Later, he had to re-do it because he planted them to close to each other therefore they would not have been able to grow.

Can anyone help me figure out which movie this was from?

Thanks!

You must be talking about Jet Li's "Fearless". That was one of the scenes in the movie. He told the media that that was his last martial arts movie over here. The movie had a lot of action in it. But it was very sad almost through the whole thing.

No, he's right. It was filmed in Okinawa. You are talking about the new one with Jackie Chan.

Aniki 07-23-2010 07:12 PM

You're both wrong. Karate Kid 2 was shot in Hawaii. Not a single scene was shot in Okinawa or China.
