Suggestions for crazy J-movie?
I have been watching a lot of Japanese movie lately and I have to say I am loving them. The best ones are those that you watch for 2 hours and then think about for a week haha. I am talking about those movies where you have to think about life or others that just really screw with your mind.
My favorites so far are: Suicide Club 1,2 Premonition 1 Litre of Tears All four of those made me think a lot. Soo basicaly I am asking you if you know any other titles that really put you into deep thaught. Any genre works (thriller, drama, horror etc.) as long as its mind blowing xD. Please share your favorites, so that I can watch and disscuss them with you. :D |
"Deep thought."
That would somewhat depend on what one values most in life. People have different interests, so different things would provoke thought for different people. I don't really have any recommendations at the moment. This is just something I thought you should consider. |
well i can't think of any crazy japanese movies, but for korean movies there's oldboy and janghwa, hongryeon

Every month the Japanese embassy here puts on a free J-movie for people to go and see.
The last one I saw was titled in English "The face of Jizo". In Japanese it was called 父と暮らせば or "living with dad" (?) The cool thing about this movie for me was that when I left the embassy I only thought it was only an OK movie... but for some reason the movie stuck with me and now that I think about it and the characters and the situation it was really touching. I don't know if you'll have the same experience but that's my two cents :) |

Thaks a lot for all the replies.
I love the Miyazaki movies as well. Specialy Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Its so awesome how he presents the shinto gods. Audition is a great one as well I agree. The ending is way creepy and unexpected. umm in case you haven't watched it yes I would recommen "nobody knows". Really good movie |
you can count on any Takashi Miike movie to be crazy, but for the very *craziest* i'd check out Visitor Q or Gozu. Absolutely off the handle, without being ultra gory.
Alternatively, there's always Frog River, or The Machine Girl etc. for some full on hilarious insanity. |
The Secret (Hirosue, Kobayashi and Kishimoto)
It is very interesting to hear what foreign people feel on Japanese movies.
Then, I want you all to check "The Secret" or "Himitsu" as shown at URL below. The Secret - DVD Rentals - TigerCinema Because it is made based on Japanese point of view for love and sex, I want to know what you foreign people feel on seeing this movie. And of course, this is kind of crazy movie. ![]() FYI, as the last scene was changed from original nobel "Himitsu" by Keigo Higashino, there were hot discussions in Japan against the change. |

2LDK << a funny movie that isn't too heavy on violence.

Big Dreams Little Tokyo
|
I saw a seriously weird one, I think it was just called Tokyo. It was three stories by three different directors (one was the guy who did eternal sunshine of a spotless mind). I liked the first and third one alright, but not the second.
|
Man, a lot of you don't know much about Japanese movies it seems.
Because from the recommendations....it's always the same films listed, or the popular anime/horror films which only makes up a small portion of all Jfilms. |
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind? O_O That's a quote from an Epik High song.. *cough* Anyway..
Let's see... Koizora 1 Liter of Tears Ghost Train Tamami Wow, I just realized all my movies are Korean. |
Battle Royal a good movie and so is Audition
|
@ Nan
Is this the one you mean? Ghost Train Korean Movie - Copyright 2005. Encore Films Pte. Ltd. Because there's also a Japanese one, which has Oguri Shun in it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Train_(2006_film) |
Mf@ No, the one I mean is a Japanese one about a dead woman haunting a specific tunnel.
