Any Ancient Japanese movies/TV-shows?
Does anyone know a Ancient Japanese movie/TV-show? I want to know and see more of the old Japanese culture, especially the architecture and I think some movies/TV-shows can help me.
|
Sumimasen, I wish I could help ya.
|
What do you mean by ancient?
|
I'm thinking something in the order of history programs about Ancient Japan.
|
But how ancient? That`s an important point. Prehistoric? A few hundred years ago? I can probably help, but without having a clue what time period the OP is interested in... I can`t.
|
Well, at least before they made contact with Europeans. Maybe this will help:
" The second great push in Japanese history was contact with China from 200 AD onwards. From the Chinese, who demanded that Japan be a tribute state to China, the Japanese adopted forms of government, Buddhism, and writing. While Japanese culture ultimately derives from the immigrants of the third century BC, the bulk of Japanese culture is forged from Chinese materials—a fact that will drive an entire cultural revolution in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as scholars attempt to reclaim original Japanese culture from its Chinese accretions " I would like information about Japan around 200 AD, cause I like the Japanese architecture which has a bit of the Chinese architecture. BTW, what does AD mean? |
It's Latin: "Anno Domini". It's generally used to signify the change in year counts after the birth of Jesus Christ. Nowadays, political correctness has replaced "AD" with "Common Era" (CE). Quite silly to me, but that's just my opinion.
Also, if you want to study history well enough to understand it, it appears you need some studying of general terms used in historical discussions first. |
Jesus' birth? I thought it was marked from his death.
There's a number of meanings for it, but the easiest I can remember is "After Death." Similarly, BC can be interpreted as "Before Christ." Of course, like Koir, pointed out... Some terms might be more politically incorrect than others. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, exactly, but I figured it's worth giving a shot: Hissatsu Shigotonin 2009 | Watch Hissatsu Shigotonin 2009 Japanese Drama Online |

Try checking through the NHK documentary back catalog if you actually want to learn something about the period. If you are looking for something from 1800 years ago, you`re going to run pretty thin - with most of it being archaeology and the like. And there certainly isn`t going to be much in the way of "Chinese architecture" - in fact, there was little more than wood and mud huts in Japan around 200AD. Anyway - HERE. Japanese Paleolithic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Note the menu on the right. Read each of those articles in order to figure out what period of Japanese history you REALLY want to know about. I highly doubt it`s the Yayoi... |
