Maximum the Hormone is the band that did the op. and ending themes for Death note season 2.

I like the group's music a lot. I have most of their discography. Wish I could buy it here in the states, though, as opposed to downloading this stuff. My folks think I'm nuts for this type of music though, 'cept my cousin, who likes them. He likes the big guy in the group who sing those high screaming notes. lol

I was listening to them when my friend was playing it in my car on a way to a party. I think that's pretty cool that they have a female drummer and everyone kinda has a part to sing :P

i adore MTH, probably my favourite jrock band right now.
i love how it's a mix of genres, one minute it'll be all happy and yay and then it'll be like RAWRRR... it's ace XD;

I first heard bout them on Death Note.
I can't say I LOVE them, but that's because "What's up people?" Is the only song I've heard. And I can't find them on other sites. (Mainly cuz I never looked)

I know this is an old thread, but I just found some MTH vids on youtube, these guys rock! I think I just fell in love with Nao (the drummer), chicks that play metal rock my socks. Gonna have to start watching Death Note again since I just bought a shirt and found out MTH did op and ed themes on it, I've only seen 2 or 3 ep.

I really like them What up people is now one of my favorite songs

Maximum the hormone is amazing. Check them out on youtube or veoh. Zetsubou billy is one of my favorite songs by them.

As for my favorite song, I would have to go with Shimi (I think that's the name), or Zetsubou Billy.

Personally, I like Bikini Sports Ponchin and Maximum 21st Century.

i love how they manage to mix a ton of styles (metal,pop,rock,hip hop and even some reggae!) and manage to come out with something that sounds so good! there are a lot of other bands that have tried that and failed miserably but they pull it off brilliantly :vsign:

I love them, they're my favorite japanese band, although they tend to repeat them selves a bit, but they're still good. There first album blowed big time, but after that they became awesome. Maximum The Ryo as a weird voice, but it works for him.

What's up people was the most hilarious song I had ever heard.

Its even better when you sing it in Karaoke. A great de-stressing shouty song.
Singing the Karaoke made me realise that the subtitles to the Deathnote opening were a little incorrect.
They don't say "human sucker" or "f*cker"
It's 人間賛歌 (ningen sanka) and 人間不安か (ningen fuwanka)
Translation: "Human anthem", "human, are you anxious?"

But I "human sucker" or "f*cker" sounds better, lol.

gah i love maximum the hormone, they're really good. i found them by accident haha -.-'

You're right about the lyrics but I'm almost certain that they purposely chose those words to sound like "sucker/f*cker" hehe. I heard at lives everyone pretty much screams "sucker/f*cker" together...haha as you said I can't imagine how stress relieving that would be.

I never thought I'd like heavy metal-based music, but Maximum makes it work, probably due to all the genre-blending as Firu said earlier. All their songs are really repetitive though, but still they never fail to pump me up.

My favorites are "Koi no Megalover" and "Chuchu Lovely...." Their newest single "Tsume Tsume Tsume" is great too--love how they change up the beats throughout. :cool:
