The Super Nintendo

does anyone else think that super nintendo was the best system? with games like zelda III, chrono trigger, terranigma, the final fantasys, secret of evermore/mana. there really isn't many good rpg's on the new systems and i think they rely too much on the presentation rather than gameplay/storyline.
although, oblivion on xbox 360 rocked my socks off

MissMisa 04-24-2008 05:37 AM

I love Zelda and the Super Nintendo <3

Zelda 2 was slightly weird though, since it was sidescrolling.

I'm actually making a Zelda website at the moment and I'm working on the Zelda 2 section now >.<

I wish I still had my SNES. Who knows how many hours of my youth I wasted playing Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers?

I fell in love with it the minute it came out.
Can you picture me freaking out when i had SF II when it was just released.

I love the Snes but i dislike Zelda for some reason.

xtine 04-24-2008 07:26 AM

Slykaz1 04-24-2008 01:08 PM

Tetris 2..... Kirby's Adveture..... Dragon Warrior..... Ice Climber..... World Cup..... Cobra Command.....((Oh I can't forget this one)) Barbie :D

zerox 04-30-2008 10:29 PM

yeah the SNES was my last console, i'm not a big fan of video games. DKC3, Street Fighter II The New Challengers, Rocky Rodent, Super Mario World, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island.
:rolleyes:Ahhh, the old times...

Daisuki13 04-30-2008 10:30 PM

Ah, I play my SNES often!
It is a great system..
Wish I had the Harvest Moon games for it.
Mario Paint is like, the best game xD

Alastor 05-01-2008 06:49 AM

Ahh.... SNES... beautiful...

although I'm never bound by consoles; rather, games. Like, everyone who loves Zelda... go buy a playstation and buy the PlayStation (1) game "Adventures of Alundra". It's like top-down Zelda, but with cooler graphics (very anime-esque), a bigger world, more involving and deeper characters... it's basically Zeda only better in most ways. Oh, and puzzle difficulty is THAT much greater than in Zelda.

Alundra is my all-time favorite game btw ^_^;

Acidreptile 05-01-2008 07:52 AM

To me Super Nintendo is the 2nd best system of all time.To me Mega Drive is still the best.Even tough I know that all the graphics and the technology of the newest systems are much superior to that era I still consider the Super Nintendo and the Mega Drive era the "Golden Age" of the games.Lately It is only not too cool like it was once anymore.

Sutiiven 05-03-2008 12:13 PM

The SNES got to love with the super mario world and the zelda games and super mario all stars , street fighter ,primal rage, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong, KO Boxing, Earth Worm Jim and zombies ate our neighbor's .

Zombies Ate My Neighbours!Very well remembered that one is really cool!

Tyrien 05-03-2008 05:00 PM

Best system? Hardly.

However the SNES does have arguable the best catalogue of games in terms of quality and taking development era into consideration. So when put into perspective then that holds true.

Shiningmonkey 05-08-2008 08:13 PM

Earthbound was the best game on the SNES!

That game was crazy. Quite funny, but I didn't really get it.

Oh well. I love the SNES. So many innovations. Super Mario Kart was the first 2 player racing game for starters.

artymcjj 05-17-2008 07:52 PM

It will be in the history books but hardly known forever.

To quote my favourite book, on a long enough time line the survival rate for everything drops to zero.

Sutiiven 05-19-2008 04:03 AM

My Thoughts on this is no matter how low the graphics maybe but it will always be fun for endless hours and playing :vsign:

Slykaz1 05-19-2008 12:33 PM

Oh my Gawd! I saw a documentary on it and They said that the very fist snes was really named family computer.....what do you think of that?

KitsuneFr 06-16-2008 06:39 PM

Isn't it the NES (8 bits) which was called in Japan Famicom (family computer abridged) and the SNES was called there Super Famicom, if my memory still works? (like the Megadrive was the Genesis in USA).

But SNES/Super Famicom is still quite cool now, I found an excellent emulator and just finished Final Fight 2 tonight (in easy mode :D ). I'm happy feeling more than ten years ago :)

JoshAussie 06-23-2008 04:08 PM

gn1225 06-28-2008 05:36 PM

Chrissiichan 07-01-2008 11:13 AM

Yeaaa I still have my SNES
And it still works!
Sadly enough I have no tv to connect it to >.<

kireikoori 07-01-2008 11:45 AM

When I was a little kid, I though games like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG were my own little secret.
Turns out I just didn't know anyone cool other than my cousin. D:

SatoriOne 07-01-2008 12:18 PM

Ive been rockin out with video games for over 20 years and it never gets old. I mean the systems and games just keep getting better and better. And as much as loved the SNES I cant say it comes close to even comparing to the latest consoles. Right now I am all about the XBOX 360. GTA 4, Halo 3, Bioshock, Madden 08, and so on. These games offer so much more than those of the past. Im talking about realistic 3D graphics, spoken dailogue, online gaming, in depth customization. The list is endless. No way the SNES can measure up IMO.

Henbaka 07-01-2008 01:33 PM

I never had a SNES myself, just played alot at my friend's ;) SF2 forever.!

Late to the topic, but Zelda 2 was on the NES, not the SNES. A Link to the Past was on the SNES.

Alkindus 07-08-2008 06:47 PM

did any of u play Konami's Cybornator? I used to play the shit outta that game back when I was a kid but I never finished it.....started playing it again a phew weeks back but I suck at it right now lol.....the game doesn't have any save options.....

the snes had great games......u guys should play Donkey Kong part1 till 3 (on widescreen) those games are still top notch, great graphics, beautifull music.....back when I was a kid it took me hours to finish part 1...last time I played it it took me 50 minutes +-......really addicting game(s).

Kaede 07-11-2008 12:10 PM

Cybernator (AKA Assault Suits Valken) was a pretty decent game back in the day. The only thing I didn't like about it was the over use of cut scenes with reams of dialogue. Games like this you just want to jump around shooting stuff! Still, it's not too hard and I managed to finish this one.

Donkey Kong Country 1 was a great game, the second and third parts were just re-hashes of the same thing over and over.
