The Xbox 360 has a reputation for having hardware problems but besides that I think it's mostly because they don't have enough high quality Japanese games, I think it would take a game library equivalent to the ps1 or ps2 to gain a large fanbase like Sony and Nintendo.

lol, you're probably right, but I don't see that happening... PS1, PS2, Deamcast etc had amazing Jap titles. I don't see Xbox ever getting anything like that... It's already been out for a while, so we've seen what it's like and what's to be expected.
