PS3 VS Wii
 

tomorrow is the launch of the PS3...my suggestion..let me give you guys some info...originally supposed to be 400,000 Units shipped to the U.S it is now 150,000 units... why you ask?

1. system kept on over heating(no surprise)
2. controllers were starting to suck
3. the backwards compatibility of it SUCKS basically you can play the PS1 and PS2 games, but you would not be able to see them and 4. is why
4. IGN: Sony's Grave Error: The $499 HDMI-Lacking PS3.
5. let's see a PS2=$600 warranty: son of a$@# $100 game: 60 bucks: memory card: it better be at least $40>_<.. you're looking at paying about $800 dollars


the Wii? 4 million are coming here so don't worry ppl you'll definitely get one.... the games are awesome and i've played Excite Truck for it.. it rocks!!! another thing... it IS backwards compatable.. and you can create your own "Mii" which is basically a version of yourself on the console:p... surf the interner if u have WiFi and also add pictures to it.. and price?

Wii console: $250
games: $50
warranty: $40
don't know if u need mem card or not...but in all you're looking at about $350.... see the difference?:) ppl.. you know PS3 will probabaly go down..so do me a favor..stick with the Wii..

Why it is better to never buy a console when it is launched. One year from now the price will have dropped by at least 1/4 and most teething problemss will have been fixed by then. I still don't have PS2 but will acquire it this spring.

As for games I rent them for trial and those I really like I buy second-hand at EB Games. :D

Thanks for the info pete. I been telling people to forget the PS3 at least a year before even thinking about it. gives time for them to produce more and fix the bugs out of it. Over heating is going to be a issuse with all these new systems because they let artist who know nothing about computers come up with the visual image of it then the CO comes out and says i want it looking just like that. then engineers say ok we can do it and they for get about heat issuse and go we can put this here and here and here.

you should not need a memory card with the PS3 it comes with a hard disk stuff should save there.

The wii is going to be a great system and fun the games will be cheeper they are going to sell retro games for from NES and SNES for it for very cheep. It just not a powerful system. these company got to relize yeah want better graphics but not at the cost of games beeing dull and no fun the eyecady effect quickly wears off after 2 months.

I think they went against HDMI because the cables cost a arm and a leg at retailers your talking $40 to $130 for one of those cables. also by doing this it gave another option to let people use the PS3. thru high def cables. I think they stuck with there unverasl connection in the back can you confirm this pete. if they did it should take all kinds of cables including a HDMI. oh and just to let everyone know HDMI is not all it cracked up to be it great for computers but shitty for TV stuff High Def cable seem to offer better resultion rate. all good thing about HDMI you don't need audio cables.

hmm i dont really mind, i end up getting both sooner or later:)

not sure if they did the memory alone would cost more then a wii the. I herd there was 4 gig of flash memory on it for save games and stuff. maybe that what you are thinking of. if it got 40 gig it a hard drive. it may be a small one but it not flash. Flash memory cost about $150 for ever 4 gigs. so your talking 10 times that so the price for the memory of the Wii would be 600 plus eveything else. I will double check that one thou who to say nintendo just did not make there own flash memory.


The wii use SD cards for memory and it looks like they go into the controler accoriding to Wii - Hardware
and the largest size of flash memory in SD is 4 gigs that the public has access to. that still 1,000 times more stroage space then the old memory cards for the game cube. =)

Sony needs to be more original with the looks, nintendo has something cool and unique everytime, Sony sticks with the same controller, PS3 doesnt look that good in my opinion..

Err, personally I do not like them both at all. I'll stick to the PSP and PS2.

lol you're so stupid it's pathetic.... today a lot of people came racing to the stores and said that their PS3 weren't working right... i went to Gamestop..same problem.... the guy who won a PS3 at MTV? yea that PS3 wasn't working for him either.... lol have fun paying $800 for a piece of trash.. oh and yea i work at a store called GameCrazy and hmm let's see... in less than three hours we had about 30 customers bitching at us because their PS3's weren't working.. and they got them at different stores...but once idiotic Americans go into a panic they have to go into a friggin gamestore and expect us to fix it

Down with sony!! They fired my father so I petition against them now. Not only that but Sony never really puts any thought into their new inventions, trust me I know. They are all about the looks and trying to fit as much as they can into a tiny electronical device and over price it. Mind many of the things they do come up with are not supposed to be as expensive as they are being sold.

Nintendo all they way, it's a classic and will never let you down. You're a true gamer when you stick with the classics.

as for better game system id go with ps3 but the cheeper would be wii =/

Classic yes even more so now with retro games that will be avaible for the Wii. but i would say they have let us down in the past N64 major failaure. the only reason they did not go bankrupt was thanks to the Gameboy no one at the time could compete with it price or ablities. Same thing with the Gameboy advance. The game cube was a failure also game production dam near stoped for it a few years ago it if was not for them makeing the Wii and makeing it play game cube games . they would be struggling big time. They saved them selfs with the eveything they put into this new console and i am very pleased with the way it look as so far. the N 64 was the reason a lot of game company bailed from nintendo and went to sony. the 64 was a more powerful machine, but the media they choose to use was very bad for the time. CD's where a much better and cheeper medium but they refused to go with and lost out big time.

hehe i think that the PS3 is going to be level in sales and popularity all the way until the finish, becasue the main people who buy PS3's are squareenix fans, racing fans, sport fans and jsut overall the normal person, whilst the Wii has a selective audience, mario, link, pokemon, i'm not disrespecting any of the Wii's games as i love them but i think that there are more of a majority of people that play PS games, well there are where i live anyway

ok guys no more arguing, they are both excellent in there own way + i wouldnt go as far as to say supercomputer standard thats an exageration, 1. super computers dont have nearly as much problems as the ps3 +if it were almost at that standard it'd cost alot more

oh by far indeed... PS3 is WAY better than the Wii...but it's the problem that Sony has shipping it.. thye were to ship 400,000 but only managed to sip 150,000..they are thinking to have 1 million by the end of Christmas but i highly doubt it.. you're going to get one?...I might seeing that PS3 has a lot of 1st and 3rd party games... but i'll wait until the price drops a little..

saw the zelda twilight princess(wii version) advert on tv today.. wow looks like it could be great fun, thats why im getting a wii.. not for mario.. not for Pokemon, but for Zelda(im a big fan)

Man I wish you guys were at all the conventions I had to go to when my father worked for sony. I don't think you would like the PS3 as much :p

While it is true that the PS3 and Sony have come very far and seem to be in the same competing standards with a "supercomputer" (lol no such thing as an actual supercomputer) you have to take into account that it is all for show. While they waste their time trying to come up with a way to create something mega new never before seen 'let's catch the audience with this they'll never see it coming' sort of product they never actually spend the time to see how the finished product will work. My father got to test drive a PS3 a while back and he told me then that the graphics are the best things he's seen and it's true they are. But the only problem is that the system regardless of how many times you get it fixed or get a new one will crash. Why? Because it's called having too much crap to distract you from the way it actually functions.

But don't worry Sony is still good at bringing overpriced delayed and malfunctioning products to the US for all of you gamers because they love you :) (But I still must say that the PS3 and any other sony game products are still good and fun to play with)

On the other hand while the Wii may have a few controller problems they still deliver to the general public. Taking into account that we are all not freaking made of the mula. And while some of you may think that many of the games that a "COMPANY" not nintendo come up with are childish, remember this, You played these games when you were younger and you always brought your friends over to compete against them in these wacky games....so yeah some of them are childish but that's what makes them games and fun. And hey if you're more into roleplaying games there are many of cool ones other than Final fantasy that you can play on a nintendo system. And I am a major Final Fantasy fan.

I noticed every Nintendo consoles would load games faster than Sony.. just wanted to point that out, thats why i like nintendo better

this is cause of the media they use as well as the memory they have in the machine and how it work with the processer. Also Speed of the reader. new version of playstion tend to load faster because they put faster cd and dvd readers in it compaired to the frist model that came out was much slower. This is another reason why getting any Console system a year or two after it make is debute is better.

Ah good point, i prefer the old skool cartridges, virtually no loading time :)
