Having studied Maths to degree level, Ive seen all kinds of symbols.... Sigma, psi, epsilon, theta... etc

However, those squiggles are a bit more difficult to remember and apply. Any tips on how to begin to remember/use the hirigana and katakana?

I bought the Tuttle workbook for each and did them the whole way through. After that - Write them over and over and over again. I learned each in about a week that way.
You could also do flash cards if you think that would help.

Here's the link to the hiragana workbook I used... I can't find the katakana one again but it's by the same company. Good luck!
