Japanese Language Partner

I would like to learn Japanese, it has been a desire for a long time (I'm nearly 51) and I'm looking for someone to help me learn to read and write in Japanese. I've less interest in speaking but do want to have a basic idea of how the words sound. I'm living in Israel, but I was born in the USA. If anyone is interested in becoming a penpal and exchanging letters, I would appreciate it.

I am a beginner. I do know a few words (Japan, some numbers etc) but really, just a few few words.

Sorry, but why would you want to learn Japanese if you aren't going to speak it?

It isn't that I don't want to speak it but I'm unlikely to have much of an opportunity to speak it, and, as I quite enjoy Japanese literature so my interest is skewed towards reading and writing rather than converstational Japanese.
