Talking English-Japanese exchange - 07-29-2009, 09:40 PM

Hi ^^ My name is Sunniva and i'm 16 years old.
I am rather fluent in english but i'm going to need some help with my japanese, my level in japanese is beginner.
I only know the basics.
When i start high school i might select japanese as a secondary language.
If the teacher from japan is still working there that is
But i really need to improve my japanese skill.
I can read hiragana and some katakana and i know three kanji by heart.
I DO have skype and MSN
If you want to have a little chat add me, my skype-name is Snupsi3, and my msn adress is [email protected]

Hi Sunni!
3 kanji? That's better than me on many days, haha!
If you want some lessons or practice every now and then, feel free to PM me and I'll give you my Skype name! Always happy to help a fellow learner!

In your sig, (I think that's your sig.)
You should change わたし to 私
And you don't say なまえ
You say "名前" since your talking about your name. Never put お unless your talking about someone else's name.

There's your first lesson. You're welcome.

EDIT: Matter of fact, why not just leave the 私 out. Sounds more natural.

She can use hiragana, it's not so much a big deal, but 私 IS a pretty important one to know.
I would even go as far as to say the MOST natural would be "(name)です。”
One step up from that would be "わたしは(name)です。”
That's like your bread-and-butter.
