Edit 2: Ah I found they do, the contact number for 'International Student Exchange Division' will presumably have english speaking people then?

The best way to find out for sure it to try. I've contacted a few Japanese universities via email and I generally did get a reply, even though it took some time. Also, if you have family there, it might be a little quicker to ask them to go to the university! If not, don't lose hope. They generally take a while to reply, but they almost always replied to me :)

Hi MissMisa,

Yeh I've found most only the larger universities offer japanese, and as I said earlier they expect a lot to get on the courses. If I did manage to find one living somewhere far away would'nt be a problem, manchester sounded good but they want some ridiculous things!

Yes I was also thinking of studying at Manchester, but I wondered about doing it only for a year. I'm not sure you can do that.

What kind of things do you need?

The problem I have had would be that I didn't pick a language at A Level or GCSE. I had no interest in French or German to be honest, and that's all our school offered. There was Spanish at GCSE but not A Level.
