The best way to find out for sure it to try. I've contacted a few Japanese universities via email and I generally did get a reply, even though it took some time. Also, if you have family there, it might be a little quicker to ask them to go to the university! If not, don't lose hope. They generally take a while to reply, but they almost always replied to me

Yeh I've found most only the larger universities offer japanese, and as I said earlier they expect a lot to get on the courses. If I did manage to find one living somewhere far away would'nt be a problem, manchester sounded good but they want some ridiculous things!
Yes I was also thinking of studying at Manchester, but I wondered about doing it only for a year. I'm not sure you can do that.

What kind of things do you need?

The problem I have had would be that I didn't pick a language at A Level or GCSE. I had no interest in French or German to be honest, and that's all our school offered. There was Spanish at GCSE but not A Level.
