Does someone know a technical school or university that has a computer video games development program taught in English? [In Tokyo area]

I have done some research about this.
I have found none English taught schools for video games design in japan.
There is some Japanese taught schools, like HAL in Osaka, and if Im not wrong they will make another HAL school in Tokyo in 2009 or 2010. But you will need JPLT2 to enter HAL.

Nothing specific to Tokyo, but in general. You have to think about 3 different aspect of game design, each of them require a different discipline and expertise

- Story design - Beats me, I guess any specific discipline that teach you how to write or how to write interesting story

- Character, object and scene design - Graphic Art and Graphic Design

- Overall game development - Computer Science or Computer Engineering

So when you say "Video Game Design", you need to know which area of video game you want to get into first. Most games these days are driven by something call a Game Engine (features, physics calculation etc), if you want to be doing this type of work, you probably need to achieve a Master degree in Computer Engineering, specifically in the area of Virtual Space engineering.

Good luck

Story design will you learn on a small basis while learning 3D Design.
But if you want to be a story design starting to write books is better.

Game Programming is not game design. It is Game Programming.
I do not know what he ment, but game design is either a story writer or a 3D modeller.

** A master degree is never needed. Just good to have, you can come as far with only a bachelor.

Thank you both for the information.

I am mostly interested by the coding part.

I already do some scripting for video games' mods and I quite enjoy this.

Then you can find a school that teaches Computer Science, it would not be so strange if you can find an english tought university in Japan, that teaches Computer Science.
But if you want to learn: Computer Games Programming in japan I would recommand looking up at HAL, and get the JPLT2 in you pocket.
Or go back too Europe/America and get your degree.
