Working in England, from Japan... - 04-08-2009, 04:09 PM

I shall explain. I'm a freelance writer, and the majority of my customers are in the UK. I email work to them, email invoices to them, and they deposit the money directly into my UK-based bank account.

Should I wish to travel to Japan on a Spouse Visa (my other half is considering looking for gainful employment in Japan), would I be able to continue working electronically for UK-based companies, being paid to a UK bank account, in this way? Or is a work visa required in this situation?

Cheers!

If you are not being paid in yen in Japan, I can't see how the government could tax you.

Work visas require a Japanese business to sponsor you, but if your wife is a citizen, that wouldn't be needed.

That's what I was thinking. I pay tax in the UK on my wages, and can also file that electronically.

Thanks
