Can I Make a Living in Japan?? -

Hi guys
To the point..i'm currently teaching in Jakarta. Never been to Japan before. Have an idea (loose plan) of moving to a large Japanese city, renting a place to live comfortable enough for me & my wife which would also double as place to teach IELTS/TOEFL to private students. 1.My questions are.. How much should i expect to pay for appropriate accomodation? 2. Could i find students & make enough money to live reasonably comfortably? 3. Is this all just a crazy idea? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Ghdtreb. |

You'd have to apply for and obtain an investor/business manager visa to operate a business in Japan.
You can get more info on MOFA but I believe that part of the pre-requisite for that visa is to hire at least 2 Japanese full time workers. |

It'd be far easier to JET your way in and have the wife join you on a Spouse visa. You don't get to choose where in Japan the programme sends you, though.
