Any value in getting a police clearance

I have two degrees and considering TESOL course but I was wondering if there was any value in getting a police clearance- criminal records check for getting a job?

There is if it is required and you want the job.

So you'd get if you need for a particular job but no value in general.

From what I know of hiring policies, it would become useless almost immediately. Anywhere that requires one likes to get it themselves to be sure it is completely up to date... And I agree with that thinking as it isn`t impossible to forge something. A job which needs one is pretty rare, but no doubt would need to be very serious about their checks if they did.

It depends on the jopb and your location.

If you were to waork at an airport in Australia, you would need more than a police clearance.

You would need the full monty including immigration check's worldwide.
You would need to obtain an 'ASICS' card. I've got mine.

If you are planning on working in Japan, immigration will run your particulars through Interpol when they receive your visa application. They will perform this check regardless of what papers you already possess.
