Alternative Education in Japan -

How is the situation on alternative education (specific magnet schools, homeschooling, special orientation schools) in Japan? I wouldn't mention cram schools or Kumon because they're more like supplement education.

There is very very little or no homeschooling in Japan. High schools are generally split by interest - some are strong in one area, others in another. Students choose which high school they was to attend.
There are also vocational schools - a high school attached to a two year "university", with the curriculum connected as a sort of 6 year program. I am pretty sure there are special needs schools in every area but elementary and junior high are generally integrated into the local schools. |

Nope but since my former seminar in my university slightly dealt with Japan's public education system, I was curious.
