paying utility bills on a holiday home? - 07-09-2010, 11:21 AM

We are looking at buying a holiday home in Japan. Will we be able to arrange utility bills (electricity, phone, etc) to be direct debited from a Japanese bank account? We won't be in the country most of the year.

Thanks!

Yes, you can have sign up to have your utilities automatically debited from your bank account. I would recommend getting an account with Shinsei bank, as they are friendly to foreigners, and they have an easy-to-navigate website (in English, I might add).
