So it seems the North has threatened to fight a "sacred war" should the exercises go ahead. Nothing new there of course as everytime the US and SK conduct such exercises the North threatens something.
No incident so far. I heard the F-22 is involved in the exercises! As much as I hate war.... its hard not to appreciate such a machine. Anyway... for anyone that is interested in North Korea or the Korean peninsula situation... I stumbled upon a book on the net that looks interesting. Titled "The cleanest race: How North Koreans see themselves" The premise of the book is that political thinkers, politicians and journalists have it all wrong. That Communism, Confucianism and Juche have little or nothing to do with the North Korean regime. Instead an ideology of Korean racial purity is promoted and perpetuated amongst the population. (an idea that is also present amongst Conservative South Koreans it is said) The book was released early 2010 so it is quite new. The author of the book is a Korean expert who himself lives in South Korea. Here is an excerpt http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/28/bo...nest-race.html I think Im going to order it. Quote:
