it all depends what you are looking for when you want to escape reality. my first thought would be to hit a bar.

as for okinawa, like all other places it has it's good and it's bad. okinawa is a smaller island and doesn't have everything that japan has. it has one main tourist city i would say. other than that, it has it's handful of military pressence about 10 minutes away from nara.

if you're looking for something peaceful, i would suggest the country life where everything closes around 9pm.
