What are girls looking for in their men these days?

Just doing some recon on the opposite sex LOL!!!:D
Ladies what is it that you like most in your men plz share even if you have weird taste:cool: I'm only asking because alot of the women I've been talking to these days seem 2 be growing more and more materialistic:confused: I'm hoping that these feelings are just isolated and don't reflect the general mindframe of women today!:vsign:

katieb142 08-30-2010 10:02 PM

I want my boyfriends to be funny, kind, good at cooking, good in bed and Italian ;D

Eiri02 08-30-2010 10:08 PM

katieb142 08-30-2010 10:11 PM

I guess I used to live with the exception that proves the rule???

Mostly an intelligent, sensible, average guy. My tastes haven't changed much since i was a teenager (30+ years ago), but when it comes to the money issue, like many women I have learned to require solvency. Doesn't have to rich, just able to make ends meet and not in debt for the next several lifetimes.

ARoomwithaMOOSE 09-21-2010 11:56 PM

Smart, nice, can't smoke, funny (but not in a sick way), is comfortable with the fact that I don't need him to do everything for me.
Can take care of himself (I don't want to be anybodys mother), cute, on the taller side, Japanese;), likes me for who I am, has a good job and has a great smile..... I think that's about it.
Oh and he be a total d*ck:) (guess that rules out all the guys where I live)

Sangetsu 09-22-2010 12:25 AM

Money and looks have always been the big two, and the more you have of the former, the less you need of the latter.

GoNative 09-22-2010 09:50 AM

Yeah you could guarantee this guy is really rich! :mtongue:

KyokoUK 11-12-2010 12:38 AM

I look for the basics, have a brain, a good sense of humor, I like for him to be gallant and want to protect me although he knows for himself that I am totally capable of taking care of myself, cute...in his own way, has a plan for life at least outlined and can take care of me and him, likes to just go in long walks, holding hands and not saying a thing but he knows everything I'm saying. So basically I look for exactally what KuranUSA (on this forums) has and that is why I will wait for him to come back to me from studying over seas.

Suki 11-15-2010 04:33 PM

Qualities I like in men: confidence, ambition, intelligence, stability, sociability.

In practice, it would translate into a man who's sure about every decition he makes and pulls through no matter what, acknowledges his own capabilities and fights to reach the top, likes a stable life (relationship wise) and enjoys a good conversation.

Very wrong statement.

evanny 11-15-2010 04:45 PM

just on a side note.
since women have a great deal of expectations (when describing ideal variant) from men do you also feel (take into consideration) that you are meeting his needs? being attractive enough, smart, fun?
as saying goes "easy to take, hard to give"

Being 'attractive enough' isn't something you can actually change to meet your partner's expectations.

yep. and yet everyone writes that they want beautiful partners.

i simply can't even if my life depended on it to call out treats that im looking for in a girl.
its simple for me - i have to like you. don't care if you are smart, good looking etc - if i like you that's it. and then i try to do my best to make the other person feel the same way.

Well, those who say they look for beauty when considering someone as their partner mean they wouldn't fall for someone who, at first sight, doesn't appeal to them. But that's kinda obvious. You have to feel attracted to someone before you go into establishing a relationship. You can be attracted to someone who isn't extremely attractive, but it's okay if you feel the thing.

And it's not like people stop to check if the person they like matches each and every of their expectations. When it does it kinda shows for itself. I value intelligence above most other qualities. That means I wouldn't fall for someone who I think is dumb. Not because I would stop myself, but because I wouldn't be the least bit attracted to that person, in the first place.

CoolNard 11-16-2010 04:55 AM

Great thread, I think we're on the verge of a breakthrough to solving the enigmatic intricacies and complex genetic implications of womankind! O.o A small step for OP, big step for man. :D *sorry, lame moment*

PockyMePink 11-16-2010 05:49 AM

Woman being materialistic?

Maybe that's true (even though I've never met a woman who was only in it for money or material items), but that's definately not as bad as most men's standards for women. Just sayin...there's a gender to blame for women's over sexualization these days (as well as many other things), and that gender isn't female.

Vinnythefox 11-16-2010 12:24 PM

Most of the girls on here sound like there standards are pretty high, what happened to average to good looking with a personality that matches. Its naive and stuff you say he has to be Italian or Japanese. no offence to anyone.

I take it that men are also to blame for the whole "Men must all be muscular and have six-pack in order to be sexy!" view, right?

Men and women both have a big part of the blame, it's an incorrect and feminist statement to try and shift the blame on men

KungMartin 11-16-2010 03:15 PM

Grrr I sense a bit of catfight between Suki and evanny ;D

evanny 11-16-2010 03:33 PM

O.o how so?

but all and all i think this is just dumb topic.
no one ever EVER has red this kind of topic and then feel like 2nd coming of Jesus is here - "OMG. really? so both sides want attractive and smart, and fun partners? i had no idea - im so going to change now that i know what other half wants!"

LycanOtaku 11-16-2010 05:33 PM

In order for me to be attracted to someone, I need to feel intellectually stimulated. If I can hold intelligent conversation with a guy, and they can make me laugh and put up with my numerous hangups, (and we can actually get along great) then to me that says keeper... lol... I don't need anybody to take care of me, I work for that purpose... On that same note, he has to be financially secure enough to take care of himself. Romance is a plus, and I am all for PDA (to a certain extent, no groping please, lol)... Nationality/race is unimportant, so long as my requirements above are met. I admit to being more cerebral about these things than others are, but the way to this girl's heart is through her overactive brain, hehe...

Agreed.

LycanOtaku 11-16-2010 06:33 PM

Intelligent, funny, and self-supportive with a dash of romance is not too much to ask, eh, Suki? lol

Girls going on about so and so being hot, and 'ooohh, he must have money' irritates me to no end...

I have been called an idiot for turning down a guy that told me 'quit your job and run away with me, I'll pay your bills'... Couldn't help it that the guy struck me as an idiot and I couldn't see myself dealing with his stupidity day in and day out, lol... Good looking though he was, I couldn't deal with being the only intelligent one between the two of us...

Well, I may make an even bigger womanizer (I'm pretty sure that you already are one) but who cares?

I think the word 'cool' which you can use to describe human beings was invented by women.
For me it (if you are a 'cool guy') means that you:
- can keep distance from anything (but in an observant way-so in result you can be thoughtful)
- never overreact a thing (not what a girl would do) I mean you can if it's about love :)
- look good-- enough to have genuine style- and decent (not having a better word for that)
- have brain, but not only be able to use that -lol
- and definitely have planes for life.

I think I'm not the materialistic type... but if you have money/good job too...

No, but men can get away with being less than muscular and six-packish. I see more "normal" type men in media then I do "normal" type women. I've never met a male that isn't a teenager that had a serious problem with their body, or not being muscular enough. Women on the other hand ten to carry their body insecurities well into old age.

Both genders are sexualized, but are you seriously going to tell me that men are equally as sexualized as women are? :mtongue:

Interesting you would mention that... Smell plays a deciding role. I have a friend who has a theory. She thinks people are attracted to each other by body odour more than looks. Like animals. It's all hormonal. She says that when you find yourself being irrationally attracted to someone it's because your subconscious has taken a liking to that person's smell. And the other way around, you might find someone to be extremely sexy and suddenly the attraction stops and you can't figure out why since you still find him desireble but your hormones are turned off by the smell, and that's all a physical thing you don't realize but actually takes place inside of your body. The human body works in mysterious ways. :)

KungMartin 11-17-2010 07:27 PM

^No wonder this girl at a party last weekend told me I made her horny when I didn't even make any moves on her. I pretty much was just sitting still not saying anything;D It has to be my awesome new fragrance (she was sitting in my lap so I guess it's settled) ;DD

Katianura 11-17-2010 07:32 PM

Personality Is All That Matters

In my opinion all I want is a guy who can make me laugh.
Knowing how to make me smile and being romantic doesn't hurt.
Special skills come in handy...
If he's a cook then cool.
If he plays guitar like I do there is more bonding.
:p :pinkclap:
