Japanese History
I don't understand, why there's no Japanese history forum still around? I believe that i am not the only one who would enjoy reading about interesting historical facts, about wars, politics and other historical stuff. Heck, i would even write a couple of topics, if i would need to :D
People, stand up for your interests in history! :vsign: |
This is an excellent idea...... I would find the history of the Samurai in Imperial Japan fascinating. A person in my history class is doing a project about the end to their rule (and I'm doing the Russo-Japanese war.)
I think the problem is however, that there aren't many history experts here. |
Me!
I'm doing a college project about Japan, but it ain't got much to do with history, unfortunatly. Plus Japan history isn't studied (only from the 40ies on) in high school, you've gotta do Japanese Philology or Asian Studies. If anyone feels like explaining something, I'll be delighted to be an interested school girl. :D |
Yes, we have recommended this for awhile. What is a JapanForum without a History Sub-Forum
We could also use an area for Japanese Architecture, and maybe even one for things that Japan Manufactures, like cars, systems, televisions etc. :D |

Suffice to say, I think having a Japanese History subforum would be an excellent idea. |
Do you think samurais would have disappeared if the Americans hadn't taught them how to fight Western-style during the Meiji Restoration?

Intercultural communications
Hi guys!!
I was wondering if any one would be interested in helping me out a little? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Ok so I am in an intercultural communications class. One of my assignments requires me to interview some one from another culture and get a little information on their culture. Would any one be interested in helping me out? If you would here are some questions that I need answered: 1. Are there any cultural biases? 2.What is your culture’s influence on the communication of the members of your culture? 3. How is cultural identity influencing what is said and how it is perceived? 4. What theories/concepts can you use to explain possible misunderstandings? 5. Are social episodes and interpersonal relationships defined in a particular way in your culture? 6. Are there any special or unique uses of language? 7. What are the beliefs, values, norms, and social practices of your culture? Like I said before thank you so much in advance. I have been researching a lot on the Japanese culture and it is very interesting to me. So if there is any other information that you would like to add I would love to hear it. Thank you !!! Have a good day!! |

I'd die for that. :]
I.E; YES YES PLEASE? |
Yeah, I think that's a great idea as well! I'd love to know more about Japan history, since I don't know anything about it! (Yeah, that's really uncool since I want to know more about their language and culture and yet I know nothing about Japanese history, but it'd be the time for it if there was a sub forum about it!)

I'd find it really damn interesting to know about the pre-Tokugawa Shogunate era. Everything after that I more or less know about or can find out.
|
This is an awesome idea. Right now in my history class we are merely skimming over japanese history, and I think it would be good if we put history on thif forum. Get back to Japan-related things!!

Japanese History
Yeah the Tokugawa era is awsome and reading about the time of Oda Nobunaga is good to though you're right excessum there should be
|
The question is, how do we know what would be factual and what would be speculitive?<--sp? Japanese history is actually very bloody. For the people in here that know about the japanese invasion of China and Korea, know how brutal they can be. Samurai and Ronins and Ninjas are all cool and stuff, but what about the non cartoon stuff. I think this would actually shock a lot of you. Just my 2 yen.

I'm only curious can cousins marry in Japan?
