subs are wayyyyy better. the only english dub anime i liked was inuyasha, the guy that played inuyasha is the best english voice actor, but compared to seiyuus, he's nothing hahah. i never watch dub ones, always subs. just for the inuyasha, i have it in both languages.

Calling someone an idiot in the subs sounds so much more like a legitimate insult ^_^ .
Seriously--baka just sounds harsher than idiot :P . If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love you; but if you actually make them think, they'll hate you. ~Don Marquis Quote:

Honestly, I prefer to watch dubs.
I have a hard time reading subtitles because I have very bad eyes, and it can take a long time to skip back to read what I just missed, plus its frustrating. I don't know about English language voice actors all being bad, there are some dodgy ones, but I've found there are many good actors who do a fine job. Dubbed is what I prefer, most definately. |

I'm a sub kinda girl myself. I will admit that there are some pretty talented English-speaking voice actors, the best example coming from FLCL. There is hardly a voice in that show that doesn't match the character that they are playing. However, in certain anime, such as Nerima Daikon Brothers, it is best to stick with the Japanese audio because it is more fluid and you don't lose any jokes or cultural references simply because they don't know how to make it fit for the English ear. It seems to me that sticking with the way it was intended for audiences origionally is the best way to hear it.
I have to say though, it is pretty funny to hear bad voice-overs. |
