I think the dubs can only be judged from show to show. I hate the Naruto dub but I like the InuYasha dub. Of course the bad thing is the American-ized dubs like Naruto where they add annoying catch phrases like "believe it!" To me it also depends on the voices attached to the characters. Using the same example, Naruto's character has an extremely annoying voice in the dub but has a fitting Japanese voice. So my short answer is "it depends."

Ill have to agree with him. I rather have subs, and like many have stated above is because most dubs have crap for a cast, and it ends up sounding lame. Most subs are pretty accurate when it comes to translating, ill just add that there are a few exceptions when the Dub version is pretty good, but for the most part Subs are better |

i chose doesnt matter coz , sometimes the dub voices are good examples,Bleach, samurai champloo,FMA,death note, dragon ball z, ghost in the shell S.A.C. ,cowboy bebop , i reckon those dubs are pretty good
tho anyway i like watching sub more just coz i love the japanese language and there voices always sound cool and some anime dubs they go off and edit them and take out the blood and stuff -_- (so damn stupid ) |

I am 100% subs.
I have worked as a sound engineer dubbing anime (10 years ago) and the voice actors do not have a clue about what they are doing. whats more the directors are usually working to a budget that gives better returns to the company doing the dubs and are not clued in to the actual anime. For most western importers of anime who dub, all of the work has been done already and the J shows have sponsorship and an audience and all of the animation has been created, even the subs give a translation, all that is left is to hire some cheap voices sell it to cartoon network and count the cash. I much prefere to hear the J voices with a good sub. It is easy for me to transpose the written sentance onto the J voices and get a good feel for what is going on. I have seen a good few anime in sub and dub and the dub has always dissapointed me if not ruined the episodes seen. I have to find the subbed ep and watch that for some comfort. But thats just my way of eating icecream. |
