Well, cheap American dubs are something we have to deal with, the voices in Advent Children: Final Fantasy VII spun me into a dimension of pissed off I've never been in.

I have heard the Japanese voices and they are cooler than the American counterparts, but overall the series just isn't as good as it used to be, most of my friends hate it anymore because it's "level of coolness" just down-spiraled.

btw, Nekozawa, I love your avatar.. XDDD

And I assume your not 10 years old either The thing is is that the story IS geared tward young children. Young children like those stories. Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults not so much.

Y'know it took me awile to figure out it was anime too. Like I rewatched some of the first season for awile and I just now get all the references to Japanese culture. It's kinda like sublminal messaging in a way.

I grew up watching Pokemon, but now, since they totally changed the voices...it's just plain weird now......Occasionally I try to watch the movies to see how they have progressed.

The movies seem a whole lot better than the episodes, even though they are just filler.

Pokemon is still wildly popular here in Japan. I posed for a picture on top of a giant Pikachu at Tokyo Dome City a couple weeks ago. This morning I walked by the Tokyo Pokemon Center (funny that spell check says "Pikachu" is misspelled, yet "Pokemon" is correct, but I digress...), the store was full of high school girls in uniforms who were shopping for who knows what.
