entertainment: simple, in german tv are just crap shows like these talkshows and the animes are dubbed that you think "how the hell can an old man (3rd hokage in naruto) talk like he was 24?" and other dubbeds are even worse

When do you think people die?

When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol?
No.

When they are ravaged by an incurable disease?
No.

When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom?
No!

It's when... they are forgotten.

I watch for entertainment. I find it a lot more entertaining than most things in American television anyhow, and especially more engaging, captivating, and has better stories than American cartoons.

But that's just me.

@Shoryuken languages are cool

@Sasuke91 i have seen all but Bleach and Naruto not nearly 1/2 of the series Both of them i seem to never get a chance to watch. I must admit DragonBall and DragonBallZ are funny but personally DragonBall was more artistic for me. DeathNote will never fail to be amazingly artistic in the show or manga and it shall never fail to engulf me.

@Ayam90 ^_^

@SJup81 a tie between Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors) and Meitantei Conan I will check out sometime. Oruchuban Ebichu sounds like it varys between people so I may look at it but probably not ussually when somewon hates it enough to say it saucks dont watch, I ussually find at least 2/3 of the episodes suck. And I might check out the Meitantei Conan manga

@Shanis LOL , and um no idea but i knoewtaced that some

@ThidSight true American TV Sucks so bad

Entertainment - The thing I like about anime is that they introduce elements that are very different to what we're used to in the west. You're describing an anime to a mate, "It's about a traveller who tours around the country on her motorbike" (nice and straightfoward) "and, oh yes, the bike talks to her" (only in anime)

I mean try explaining the end of Akira to anyone. I think that's why I liked Evangelion because you had to work out what was happening at the end, whereas I have a mate who hates films that he has to think about. Typical of many western viewers I think.

Entertainment: It's pretty self-explanatory. I enjoy watching anime.

To learn: Like a lot of people do, I take note of the usage of the language... Not just necessarily of the words but the context of the phrases and expressions. You can gain a lot from simply immersing yourself in something entertaining (as expressed above) and potentially educational.

Anime is an art: I'm an artist myself, so naturally, I'd attempt to understand and appreciate the artwork, storyline and symbolic significance of the work. Athough 3-D graphics have been popular these days, I'm grateful that Anime is still very strong and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I believe it is a form of expression - like storytelling - that can't easily be replaced.

I like anime because of the entertainment, and sometimes I learn new lessons, like from Fruits Basket =] I also love the art, and some of the stories are quite good =]

Detective Conan is a pretty cool series, despite the fact that it's been airing for 12 years. It's a nice mystery series.

As for Oruchuban Ebichu, you should probably watch it and decide if you like it, or not, for yourself.

Entertainment - Though I also think that anime is art too. The stories in animes are unlike most stories in books and the art of anime also give the story more meaning. Though anime can tend to become cliché, like I'm sitting there and I can tell that so and so with end up being the villain, or so and so is going to such and such. But then again, same could be said about other forms of entertainment.
