I'm usually one of those people referred to as "a loner" so I'm pretty much used to doing weird things, having people stare at me, and laugh about what i did later. Believe me, once you are used to it, it's actually alot of fun. (By the way, I'm definitely not saying anime con conventions are weird, I think they are awesome, so don't take that the wrong way.)

I don't go to any of the Anime related expos or conventions and such mainly because some of the people there weirds me out.

i feel like an outcast no matter where i go.

But to despair was to wish back for something already lost.
Or to prolong what was already unbearable.

Sometimes, I dont bother with cosplaying.
Im not really impressed by it all, since i've been to 5 expos already.
I still feel outcast though, seeing as im not really a fan

I've only been to two in my life, and I did seem "out of place", especially since, for the most part, I don't keep up with much of anything "new", but that's pretty much the only way I was, and am, "out of the loop". Most of the cosplayers I came across, I didn't know what they were from, aside from the obvious mainstream stuff, but if they looked cool, I took a pic of 'em anyway. As for me, I don't cosplay, and probably never will so in that regard I'm also "out of the loop".

The main reason I went, aside from visiting my friends who are into manga/anime who live in the area, was to buy stuff, like plushies (I don't care how old I get, I'll always like stuffed animals), cds, manga, Japanese snacks and drinks (yay Ramune! lol), and sometimes extra things, like I bought necklaces for my entire family one year; each had his or her own Chinese Zodiac symbol on it. My ultimate favorite activity at the convention I went to was pretty much all of the retro gaming.

You'll feel like an outcast only if you act like one.

Also, I've never been in those anime conventions, so I can't answer this threads question
