Try not to walk often. When you walk, walk like an old man: slouching forward with your knees bent slightly.

Your voice should sound tired or bored. To get more of an idea on how L speaks watch the Japanese version of the anime (this can be bought at Wal-Mart and other stores, or watched online).

Wearing some black eyeliner and eyeshadow should work

when you're as L, don't forgot to bend your wrists and try to bite your thumb nails sideways or upside-down. (is what my friends always do while imitating L) lol

Just....don't try to look cute. Because L isn't cute, despite what the screaming fangirls say. Some of the most famous L cosplays (that I know of) are only famous because the cosplayer portrayed L as "OMG KAWAII SUGOI!!".

Just try to look like a bored skinny man who never sleeps.

I'm curious though....if you don't know the basics of eyeliner, how are you doing your hair? I'd expect someone to ask about how to do his hair rather then the bags under his eyes.

If you seen and read the series already and watched how the character acts and can "copy" that then u done a good job enough, u should probably just pratice being ur character for a while to get the feel.
