I love Family Guy , especially Peter, he say the most funiest and stupidiest thing i have ever hear " A boat is a boat, but a mystery box could be anything, it could even be a boat, Louis u kow how much we want one of these"; " Hello, HI ham, hi hiam h-are Peter and i will be your nipple";

Maybe because it haves elements that are not usually found in west cartoons such as a mix of drama,comedy,and many other things.Also the storylines are much more complex than most of west cartoons.

You basically took the words right out of my mouth.

If I don't want to think and just unwind from a tiring day I might look to Spongebob or some other cartoon for a dose of insipid comedy. I've never identified with any of the characters I've watched in Spongebob, nor have I ever been moved to tears by an episode.

Anime is more complex because it has to be. Unlike the cartoons/animations of the west, anime isn't just for children. It's a staple of viewing by teens and adults, as well. I enjoy that I can watch almost any "slice of life" anime and find myself relating to a situation or a character. I guess that's the appeal of anime to me.

Plus... I'm a sucker for bishounen. *sighs*

What about South Park, or Monkey Dust? (though most people don't know it, it is very dark). I wouldn't let children watch either of these shows (let's not even mention Fritz the Cat). Even Simpsons and Family Guy can be appreciated by adults on a level children don't understand. (When people say anime is for children I think that's wrong so when people say the same about western cartoons, I feel the need to point out the same is true.)

Yes you are right.Not all western cartoons are for children,actually I guess that nowadays almost all them are both for children and adults,and few like Simpsons and Family guy like you said,more for adults.

You got me there. Since I don't watch SP, Simpsons or the Family Guy I completely forgot about them. Way to smack me over the head with my own generalization. I'll have to watch for that in the future. Thanks!

I think I watch anime simply because I like the art and the stories <-- usually. If an anime has not-so-appealing-to-my-taste art, or a story I dont find interesting, I dont tend to watch it so much. I got bored with American cartoons and I dont like sitcoms and.. stuff, but found an entertainment outlet through anime ^_^
