I think that's Naussica of the Valley of the Wind. I love all the Miyazaki movies, Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke being tied for first place and then Spirited Away coming in as a close second.

My favorite scene in Spirited Away was when the mouse/Yubaba's baby imitated Chihiro when she smooshed the slug. I love that part...

And when Haku goes all =-cuckoo-= on Zaneba's pieces of demon paper!! Whee...

In Howl's Moving Castle, I like when Howl takes Sophie "flying" for the first time. I thought that was cute.

I've seen those movies and they are awesome Spirited Away is my favorite. The director, Hayao Miazaki, is very talented I have all of his flims and I was amazed by all of them.

Both films were amazing, but I prefer Howl's Moving Castle to Spirited Away, mostly because I absolutely adored the characters like Calcifer, Sophie, Turnip, and especially Howl himself.

It also had that nice, introspective edge about it.

I will mangle your mind

Miyazaki appreciation thread! - 10-08-2007, 10:25 AM

I'm not a huge anime fan, but this guy makes movies that are so good!

My favourites are.

Princess Mononoke- Amazing! It's timeless... like a folk tale. Who can write a script with such imagination yet tell a totally original story? Miyazaki

Grave of the Fireflies- So moving, I was fighting back the tears. I've never been so close to crying during a movie.

The rest of his movies I've seen are classic also, these are my favourites though.

What are your favourites and why?

Grave of the Fireflies is actually not Miyazakis work but Isao Takahatas, who is a friend of Miyazaki and uses Studio Ghibli to produce it. Its a great movie.
I also love Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away is good, but I like the soundtrack of the latter the most.

I see...

Out of ignorance I thought all Studio Gibli movies were Miyazaki movies.

OK... let me change it to Studio Gibli appreciation thread
