Manga for study English, not stupid translation.

As for point 2, it just depends on what the Japanese publisher provides to the American publisher and how much time, effort and money the American publisher wants to spend on changing the word balloons. Not changing them happens a lot. Trust me. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney manga is a great example of this.

I'll take your word for it, you're the expert after all. Hard to believe that they would purposefully do a bad translation just to save money. Even some fan-made scanlations do better work than that.

Speaking of unnatural English. One thing that always gets to me is when they leave in the honorifics on everyones name. It just sounds stupid. Ah, I'm getting a little off topic now.

Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say "bad translation". These can be perfect translations that just aren't complete sentences. The original Japanese may not have been a complete sentence either.

What I am saying is there in no promise that the English that appears in manga translations is grammatically correct. That is not because of a bad translation. That may be a great translation, but not a good study tool.

why can't you simply read books in english and your manga in japanese? i see that you want to combine your love for manga with learning, but thats not the right way to do it in my opinion. pick up Dan Brown "angels and demons" or my favorite A.D The Count of Monte Cristo and youll learn so much more from those books - you wont increase your word selection in any significant way by reading comics/manga at the level your are now because it seems that you basicly know all the words that could be in the comics...well spelling, sentence structure is something else for another day.

because in comics some stuff originaly is allready incorrect by gramatic rule standarts. so..probably a faithful adaptation will be incorrcet as well.

I had plan to read Manga like itazura na kiss.
it's not fantasy. Main is love comedy with family and friend.
main character is a normal, cute girl who loves the smartest boy in high school.
they are getting into each other, get marriage and have a kids.so this story contains a NORMAL LIFE.(not over reaction. some character is fanny though)
