In all honesty I don't think there is any concrete proof for him being/not being evil, its just a matter of perception to me, I perceive him as evil because I don't approve of his methods and don't see hos "Perfect world" benefiting anyone but himself and because of his actions towards Misa (ie using her to any extent) and just because he smiled evilly when L died
