Well Near is like L, he didn't show much reaction because he was so shocked. He completely idolized L, and he couldn't even cry. He wanted to be exactly like L.
But seeing Mello allows his emotions to show, which can be bad for a detective, it appeared that he cared for L more. But its not like that.

Yeah, take it from Kanji-kun, he's the most knowlegeable one here about DN =P
And the fact that there was an L symbol on Near's puzzle helpes proves it ^_^ There's no such thing as happy endings, for when you find true love, happiness is everlasting.

Hey everyone, I'm pretty cool, playing the new Phoenix Wright game, but its my sisters birthday party today and theres loads of kids running around, I'm hungry but theres too many people in the way of the fridge >_>
Well Melo does sorta break down, but I don't think he cried, thats going a bit far I think (Correct me if I'm wrong anyone)
